To mark 150 years of winter tourism this ski season, In December, the Carlton Hotel St Moritz is inviting guests to follow in the footsteps of the first English winter pioneers with a Cresta run and guided bobsleigh ride. Appealing to those who like to combine luxury with high-octane adrenaline experiences as well as those who love sports, this package also includes a full-body massage, curling lesson, use of the spa, ski shuttle to the Corviglia ski station and 24-hour limousine service. The package includes junior suites and use of the hotel’s own bob sleigh and costs from £4,495 for four days.

Vila Vita in the Algarve provides guests with a yacht option. Guests can hire this 72-foot long Princess yacht by the day, week or more. Soneva Kiri, the Soneva Group resort on Koh Kood in Thailand provides guests with the option to take bespoke excursions by private plane or helicopter. It’s an attractive combination: the peace and serenity of the island resort coupled with the hotel’s own private landing strip on another nearby island can take guests anywhere they like. Most popular options include use of the luxurious custom-fitted eight-seater Cessna for bespoke trips such as visiting Angkor Wat in nearby Cambodia. The speedboat facilitates access to some of the best scuba diving in the world. $1,400 per day and use of the Cessna starts at £386 for a short flight, based on two sharing.

Ferrari F430 F1 spider at Monte Carlo and Abu Dhabi

The Fairmont Monte Carlo’s imaginative package menu includes their very own ‘Room and Zoom’ that includes driving a Ferrari. By special arrangement (and because the driving is accompanied) guests are not obliged to put down the €18,000 deposit normally required, and an hour of street driving with the Ferrari F430 F1 spider Convertible has become a very popular choice.

Claudia Batthyany of Fairmont explains; “It’s difficult to categorise the guests who take this package. But one thing is sure, most people who take the standard option often spend more time having their photographs taken with the car than driving it!”. The hotel Fairmont Monte Carlo has a one-night package including an hour in a Ferrari from 709 Euros.

On a different level entirely, the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi (a hotel comprising two towers linked by a bridge that crosses over the F1 circuit) is offering room plus front row seats for the ‘Etihad Airways F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’ (21-23 November, the last race of 2014). If you’d rather drive than watch, the hotel can also arrange F1 driving experiences on the Yas Maria Circuit. Either way, while you’re there pop down the road to the Ferrari World theme park for rides on some of the world’s most extreme rides including the world’s fastest roller coaster. From £107 per room/night (650 AED.

Rally Driving in Ireland

With close links with the nearby Rally School Ireland, Castle Leslie Estate is one of the best Castle Hotels in Ireland. Helicopter tours in Wales

The Chester Grosvenor and Spa offers a 45-minute helicopter tour of an area of North Wales awarded the status of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The route lets you see Eaton Hall, the ancestral home of the Duke of Westminster’s family, Ruthin Castle, Denbigh Castle, the beautiful Vale of Clwyd; a broad, gentle sweep of green; Mel Famau; a range of high rolling uplands sheltering charming villages and towns and the peak of Mount Snowdon.

If this isn’t sufficient other hotel packages include driving weekends with a choice of Aston Martin DB9, Ferrari 430 Spider and Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. Room rates are from £425 per person in a junior suite; a weekend with 3 course dinner, chauffeur transfers and helicopter tour is £648.

Paragliding in Oman

The prize for the most imaginative set of high speed options must be awarded to Six Senses Zighy Bay. Tucked beneath dramatic cliffs on the tip of the Musandam Peninsula, this gorgeous hotel in an exotic and romantic part of Oman offers total privacy and exclusivity. Guests can choose to arrive by land from the local airport via a breathtaking drive down the hill, by sea from Muscat via the fastest commercial ferry in the world (it travels at over 45 knots), by regular speedboat or guests can even paraglide in with the resort’s resident instructor. A Pool Villa starts from $900 (£543) per night on a room only basis. The Paragliding arriving experience costs $179 (£108), including taxes.
